Teddybears
This is the very first Teddy I made under the instruction from German bear maker Hanna Elisabeth Keim in 1994. I had a passion for bears for years, but finally was able to create my own bears. This new passion kept me busy - especially after I came to Canada in the spring of 1995. As I was not allowed to work until I received my landed immigrant status in the summer of 1996 I added a lot of new faces to my furry friends who kept me company while my husband was at work.
At first I stayed pretty close to Mrs. Keim's designs concentrating more on the design of individual personalities through facial expressions and knitted accessories. However, when friends and relatives enjoyed my gifts I decided that I should try my own designs.
With so many bear makers worldwide looking for a market it is hard to develop a design that is truely a visible trademark. I am still looking for the one characteristic that lets my bears stand out from others, but maybe that is a good thing because it keeps me experimenting.
Every bear has his own personality which is influenced not only by designs and materials but also by the bear maker. It is always interesting when the Grizzly Gang members, a bear club in Ottawa I joined a couple of years ago, gives a certain design and the same material to its members to create a bear. There are not two finished bears that look alike.
So if you are interested in one of my bears, please contact me. I usually work on comission. Please consider that your bear will always be slightly different than the phote you have seen on the website (except if the bear is on sale on the website). So please feel free to make colour and/or material changes according to your taste. Prices vary depending on size, design, and materials used.
Every bear comes with an adoption certificate so that he is truely yours.
