Kerstin Peters

It is all about art...

About Kerstin Peters

KerstinKerstin Peters was born in Rüsselsheim, a city dependent mainly on the GM/Opel-Industry, but moved to the small town of Nauheim in her first year at school.

Her interest in arts was evident from the beginning, but it was not until her mid-twenties that she studied at the Merian-Kunstschule in Rüsselheim under the well-known German painter Inge Besgen.

Moving up the career ladder her love for painting was temporarily put in the back seat and she started correspondence studies in business and export.

Only after moving to Ottawa, Canada with her husband, did she get back into painting. Kerstin took courses at the Ottawa School of Art and continued with classes at the Visual Arts Centre and the National Gallery of Canada.

Due to the birth of her two children her time for painting was again cut short. However, now that both her children are in school she devotes more time to her art.

Her favourite medium is acrylics, but she has also worked in oils, and lately has started to get into watercolours. Her life drawings are mainly in charcoal and pencil.

She is part of a group of artists who meets regularly to paint together "en plein air".

She has been a member of ARTEAST for years and has regularly participated in ARTEAST exhibitions.

She is also a member of the Ottawa Art Association where she has taken over the position of website coordinator.

Since the beginning of 2008 she has served as a member on the board of the "Galerie de la Rive",  where she is also one of the permanent artists.
